My dream has always been to make a difference in the lives of people like me who struggle with mental health issues. On Wednesday March 13th I had an interview in Roxbury MA for CPS class. CPS stands for Certified Peer Specialist. I was nervous and excited all at once to be interviewed, but felt good about myself at the end of the interview. I certainly feel ready to work in an education setting or to do something in the mental health field.
I know when you’re young, and just starting out, you go through the process of what you want to be when you grow up. A veterinarian, a ballet dancer, an actress, etc... I want to be a paraprofessional or to work in the mental health field. I know it will be challenging, but I am ready to take on anything that comes my way. I know if I bring a smile to one persons face I’ll feel better at the end of it. Just to know I touched someone’s life means the world to me.
So many people who’ve worked with me touched my life. And I want to do the same and make an impact on someone’s life as well. Even in high school I can fondly remember working in the office, filing, putting the mail in staff and faculty mailboxes, amongst other things. I would always feel good helping others; it was the icing on the cake when I would get complimented on how well I was doing. I feel confident that I can help others in different ways; talking to people who need support is something I feel I am good at. And with support can be even better at.
I am so thrilled to have even filled out an application for the CPS interview. Just knowing I tried and went through the process is an accomplishment in itself. I’m confident that I did well, and even if I don’t make It into the class this time. I’ll keep trying. I’ll never give up on my dreams. I have so many people in my life who are cheering me on, and want what’s best for me. I know they’d be proud of me for reaching my goals.
I’d highly recommend the CPS training interview process if anyone has goals of working in the mental health field, or even the education field, the process is easy, and you’ll even use your interview skills at the same time. I find out this coming Wednesday the 20th if I got in or not, so please if you see me wish me good luck. Anna Harris
