New healthier lifestyle

I am the type of person that likes to eat everything and anything in sight. I am realizing albeit slowly that I have to change that behavior. Today while cooking the meal for my roommates, my blood sugar dropped. Good thing I was able to take a break and sit down, because if I hadn't I could have very well passed out. I want to try eating more healthy, I have been eating more leafy greens and more fruits too. Salad isn't my most favorite thing but lately I've gotten used to it.
I am hoping to be more active too, in fact this past Tuesday I went to the gym with the intern here where I live and did the treadmill, the bike, and walked around the whole gym. I stayed there with her for two hours. It was hard at first to get the hang of it, but I was able to take it slow, and I did 15 minutes on the treadmill, I was thrilled to have been able to do something I surely wouldn't have been able to do a year or two ago.
I know I have lots of wonderful people who read my blog, I am hoping whoever reads this can leave a healthy recipe for me to make not just for my roommates but for me as well. I want to lose some weight, so to do that I have to be more active and eat better. I am grateful I am trying to do that on my own with the help of a friend, but the more people that support me the better. And anyone can help not just my close friends and family. I know that exercising and healthy eating can be difficult especially for me, but I know I can do it. I am willing to work with people on this, maybe someone reading this is also struggling with unhealthy eating and being inactive.
I've never been able to last more than a few seconds on any exercise machine, but surprised myself by being able to do almost a mile on the treadmill. I am so glad that I didn't give up on myself that I kept trying and doing new things. Having depression it makes life difficult and exercise and healthy eating is not an easy task by any means. I want to work on it though and I know that in time I can be at a healthier weight.
Diabetes runs in my family. I want to avoid that, I want to live a good lifestyle, I want to live like Betty White. She is my idol. I am starting to realize that if I don't do something now I'll be more likely to get diabetes. In conclusion if anybody has recipe ideas or simple exercise ideas for me, please include them here in the comment section. The more people the better that support me with this the more likely I'll accomplish my goals in the long run.
I am so glad that I have people who will help me, and want to see me be more healthy. I don't want to die young. I want to beat the odds, and live for a very, very long time.
