K.D Lang concert review: 3/22/18

I got to see lovely Canadian songstress K.D Lang at the Orpheum Theater in Boston. I took my parents along with me as my guests. She is the most thrilling singer, and dancer I've had the pleasure of seeing, and that's saying a lot. I've seen so many wonderful artists in concert, but she kept me engaged through the entire concert. I have seen her once prior, but this concert was the best ever!! I'll do my best to write a little review of each song on the set list. I have had a few of her songs go round and round in my head for a few days now.

K.D performed Ingenue in it's entirety, it came out in reissue with live tracks from MTV unplugged, it was also celebrating it's 25 anniversary. Below is the list of songs with my take on each one, bare with me please because this is my first ever review for my blog.

1. Save Me
This performance was wonderful, she showed her singing abilities beautifully, I was impressed with her passion in her voice and her ability to hold notes. She just had me enthralled the whole time. I can say that without a doubt that Ms. Lang is the most distinct voice on this song. She dances, she is just so captivates the audience with this song.

2. The Mind Of Love
Once again Ms. Lang takes the audience on a ride with her enchanting voice, she knows how to grab us with her dance, and her sultry, sexy voice. I was taken aback by her high notes and the way she was with the band as a whole. I loved her moves, and her attention to detail with the beat of the music. A lot of singers cannot hold notes the way she does.
She performed this song so wonderfully, she brings me to attention and I cannot look away. I was so honored to be able to listen to her sing this song.

3. Miss Chatelaine
Now this performance is where K.D really gets into the groove. She dances, she is just so into it, this song is so catchy, and upbeat. I was dancing and grooving along with her in my seat. She is so amazing and just knows how to make the people listening smile and enjoy themselves. I wish more people knew about her, she is the most interesting and captivating singers out there. I mean who wouldn't enjoy going to see this woman in concert.

4 Wash Me Clean
This song was the most quaint and peaceful to me, it was deep and beautiful. it was a very well done song. The guitarist was amazing too, it added something to the song, and to her voice as well. It's enchanting listening to this song, and seeing what she does with it. She takes us on a wonderful journey, I am so lucky to have seen K.D in concert.

5. So It Shall Be
Another good song, good melody, and she continues to bring the house down without missing a beat. It takes guts to sing the way she does. She is a genius among geniuses. I think the way she brings the audience in is really neat, women made up most of the audience. K.D is a true legend in her own right, like Roy Orbison and Joni Mitchell, oh and Leonard Cohen too.

6. Still Thrives This Love

This song was my jam!! She was totally into it, and it was catchy, this song is my current ear worm. But it's all good though cause it's a good tune. the band was cool too. I loved the connection they all had with her. You have to connect to be good. Most would think dancing and singing at the same time is hard, but she makes it look so easy..
This song is incredibly well done. Bravo to the band and to Ms. Lang as well!!

7. Seasons Of Hollow Soul
Another tune currently stuck in my head after her brilliant performance. Catchy, danceable, and just so cool to see her perform. Kinda sounds like Going to the chapel in a way. At least I picked up on that. But it didn't bother me, she kicked so much butt, with it and It impressed me to the very end. Way to go K.D and band.

8. Outside Myself
A beautiful song, and another one that brings the audience in. Most people my own age, like pop stars such as Britney Spears, but me, I like my parent's generation of music. I am so lucky to have been brought up on K.D and her music. This tune is amazing and only K.D can make a song like that and make it her own.

9. Tears of Love's Recall
A well done performance with great background and captivating background singers as well. I wish I had gotten more pictures of this great night, but my camera quality isn't that good. The band was phenomenal and really carried K.D. I walked away feeling really energized after the concert. I'm sure everyone was.

10 Constant Craving

One of her most beloved tunes, a great song, well done performance. A+ for sure. I can say without a doubt that this was a top favorite of mine. Pretty much all the songs of the night were amazing. This song is so catchy and everyone should listen to her perform it.

11 Honey and Smoke

Off Case Lang Viers. I loved this song too. I was supposed to see K.D last summer but due to inclement weather we decided to drive back home from her show. I was thoroughly impressed with her take on this song, and without Neko Case and Laura Viers  with her. She was pretty damn good.

12. I dream Of Spring

Great song, she was cracking jokes about the so called storm that Boston got and sang this song which was great. I'm sure you all can tell by now that I love K.D Lang. I hope she keeps doing her thing and making new albums..

13. Help me

This song made famous by Joni Mitchell covered by K.D was amazing. K.D had to sing this in front of the legend herself. I mean who wouldn't be terrified by that. K.D did so beautifully with this song though. No nerves, no nothing. I wish I had that courage like she does. To belt this song out.

14. Helpless

Another great cover, done so well. She definitely made this song her own. Way to go Ms Lang. Singers usually don't do well with covers, but she knows how to make it her own.

15. Hallelujah

yet another cover, this song was sung by the late, great Leonard Cohen who passed away in Fall 2017. This song hit me right in the feels. She brought down the house again with this. Blew me and my mom away for sure.

16 Sing it loud

off Siss Boom Bang. On the two days before the march for our lives, she mentioned to keep singing out loud and she sure did.

17. I sleep alone

a great song, the grand finale so to speak. If I had to give the concert a final grade it'd be an A+ for sure. One amazing night for sure. I'd do it all again if I had the chance to.
