Hi everyone,
As the 4th month of living on my own rolls along, I am realizing how difficult it is to live without my parents. I have had really good times and really hard times while living at High Street. I think right now things are middle ground. I wish I had thought more about what I wanted to focus on while I'm living here. Such as money management and Exercise. The two most difficult things I will have to work on while here. I don't exercise as I am very sedentary, and it's hard for me to save money without wanting to spend it on frivolous things.
I don't like when people try and make me into something I'm not. I'm never going to be a social butterfly. I'm never going to be comfortable walking around the neighborhood. I'm never going to be a good cook either. Don't get me wrong I see that I am doing good things but I also know I have a lot to accomplish before I am able to transition out on my own. Is it too much to ask that I be left to be my own person. I don't like being forced to be something I'm never going to be. I want to be able to do my own thing, I also want and need the support. But I don't appreciate it when I am forced to be someone I'm never going to be.
I don't mean to sound unappreciative but I also want to be able to make my own decisions on when I want to socialize with my roommates or when I want to exercise, or when I want to cook. I have no problem with cooking at all. It's the other two that I am having problems with. I don't want to force myself either to do these things just to impress the staff or my parents. I want to come out of my shell when I feel ready. A lot of good has happened here too. I have made friends and I am getting to know my surroundings. I continue to attend Point After Club and I still have the same group of friends. I just want people to know that sometimes I need my space, and I need to be the one to know I'm ready to come out of my shell and make even more friends.
