1.When did you get diagnosed with Dyslexia? How has your learning style changed since you were diagnosed?
2.What is your advice to those with Dyslexia? How
did you get support with your diagnosis?
3.What have you done in support for those with the learning difference? What can I do to support or raise awareness?
1. Dean’s mother knew he had the signs of Dyslexia in first grade. Dean was struggling with reading, but he wasn’t diagnosed until 3rd grade. Dean was in a public school until 6th grade. Then was transferred into a private school in 7th grade. Dean was pulled out of class for reading support.
2. To the parents of students with dyslexia, congratulations on an early diagnosis. To the students who have the learning difference, the first 7-8 years of school will be the most demanding, and embarrassing. But you will persevere through your obstacles
3. Dean is currently doing a swim across Martha’s Vineyard. He is raising awareness with this to get more support to those with the learning difference. People from across the world have reached out to Dean because of his swim to tell him they have dyslexia. Reaching out for an interview with dean was important to the cause as well.
