Being an Independent woman

 Hey everyone,
So it's been a full month since I moved out of my parents house in North Andover and moved to Lawrence to High Street. So far I couldn't be happier. My roommates are awesome. I have my own room which is nice. I have been listening to music and watching netflix. I do need to get out of my room more. I guess I like being alone. Not all the time but sometimes. I went up to the third floor and watched a friend from program cook some amazing burritos. I had one. He is for sure the next top chef.
The staff is wonderful and so supportive. I have become my own advocate. FINALLY. I struggled with being able to speak up for so long and now I can do it. There's still some work to do but I'm doing amazing. I talked to my good friend Charlotte today. It was great to be able to tell her all the leaps and bounds I've made. I'm so blessed to have been with my parents for 27 years but I needed to be independent. It was time. I miss them, but I'm doing my own grocery shopping, I am cooking when I can, and I even went for a mile walk last week. I need to take more walks.
I couldn't have asked for better support. My case manager from DMH is like super amazing. She has guided me through a lot, she has been a great listening ear too. I owe a lot to her. I turned 28 a few weeks ago. 28 has been kick ass so far. I have friends, a good family, good roomies, and I'm even eating healthier. I have nothing bad to say about independence so far. It's just a dream come true to be able to do things on my own. Like laundry. LOL. I had to have some help the first time but now I can do it. I am just so happy with the way things are going so far.
