The Red Sox- AKA my bearded boys.

I have never written a blog about just the Red Sox before. A year ago they had just gotten done with a miserable season and now this year they are world champions. It's almost like a dream. I watched game 6 on Wednesday night. I felt pretty good that the SOX were going to win at home. They hadn't won a world championship at home since 1918.  John Lackey was on the mound. He was doing a great job controlling his pitches. I was impressed with how he was able to convince John Farrell that he could pitch one more inning. Then John came out of the dug-out and took the ball as the Cardinals had the bases loaded. I as well as most of Red Sox Nation was impressed with Lackey and the way he pitched. I continued to be impressed by the bull-pen.  My favorite current player is Koji Uehara who closed out the game. Although it wasn't a save opportunity for him. Seeing him react after the Sox won was amazing. I loved watching him pitch too. He was nervous it seemed, but was in total control. I felt the Sox were something special to watch after the tragedy of what happened during the Boston marathon. The team was wanting to win every game possible. They were chomping at the bit to get to the playoffs and make Boston happy. I certainly think they accomplished that goal.
It's just too bad I couldn't get to the parade in Boston. I really would have liked to go but maybe another time. The Sox were an incredible team this year. I was so impressed with their heart and determination all year. This team went on to win the World Series. I still cannot believe it after what happened to them a year ago. But obviously they didn't let that get to them. They didn't want to relive that season. I think the fans wanted something special from this team. We certainly saw a lot of determination from the bearded boys of 2013. I may not know a lot about baseball. I remember the curse. I remember the series wins in 2004 and 2007 and how thrilled I was back then. But for some reason 2013 was just so much more exciting. I love the Red Sox. I will love them forever and ever. I love the way this whole team plays the game. I hope I get to go to another game one day. I'd love to meet Koji, Papi, and Gomes. Man my dream would be to meet the entire team. But it's all a dream for now. I already am excited for next season and what this special team has in store. :)
