I've done a list of the women in my life who have inspired me. Now I am going to do a list of the men in my life who've inspired me. So here goes.
1. My step-father- My step-dad Dave is a pretty amazing guy. He has raised me with my mother for most of my life. He cooks some great dinners and he takes care of me and everyone else. He steps up to the plate when I need him too. If I need a last minute ride somewhere he will take me as long as I ask. He takes me to the senior center when I run out of bus tickets and he took me to the library just a couple weeks ago. I know sometimes we have our moments but that's okay. It happens to the best of us.
2. Jim Baucom- Mr Baucom is another inspirational man in my life. He was one of many who left a great impact on me. I know I can always email him whenever I need anything and he always responds. He taught me that it's okay to be different. He cares about his students past and present and that's the biggest reason why he inspires me. I hope to see him and thank him for all he did for me. I know I do that quite a bit but I'm sure he won't mind hearing it again.
3. Pete Concannon-Pete was my cooking class teacher in High School. He was one of the first people I met. He taught me cooking skills, and he also helped me to be a good student. When ever I needed to talk he was always there for me. I owe him a lot for what he did for me. He is a great man who helps everybody. I have not seen or heard from him in a while but I always try and contact him when I can. I know he's a busy guy. I appreciate all that he continues to do for his current students they are so lucky to have him.
4. Tom Coppinger- Tom is the Director of the Point After Club. I had been going there for 3 years before deciding to enroll at the Haverhill clubhouse. Tom really changed my life. He doesn't see me as a person with a mental illness, he sees me as a regular human being. He cares about me, he sees that even though I do struggle, that I can conquer anything if I put my mind to it. He is a hero. Well anyone working in the mental health system is a hero in my eyes. I feel so lucky to know him and that he still plays a big part in my life. I will always be grateful to him. I know he cares about me and that means a lot.
I guess that's all I can think of for now. If I think of any other inspirational men in my life I will be sure to add them.
