Carly Simon: My favorite singer of all time

Good evening to my followers and fellow Carly Simon fans. I have looked up to this legendary singer since I was a baby. I remember taking one of her albums off my moms shelf. I listened to it and ever since I've been a huge fan of Ms Simon's music. I don't have a favorite song but The Girl You Think You See and Share The End are amazing songs. I also like So Many Stars, that's another good song.  I have over 200 songs of Carly's on my Itunes playlist. When I was a little girl Itsy Bitsy Spider was also another favorite of mine. There are not many singers I look up to but Carly is a courageous woman who has overcome breast cancer. I love listening to Carly no matter what mood I am in. I think she is a special person with a huge amount of talent. I know some people might not even know who I'm talking about. Carly is the daughter of Richard Simon who worked for a well known publishing company called Simon and Schuster. Carly has 2 children, a son Ben Taylor who is an incredible singer in his own right and a daughter Sally who is also a singer. I often wonder what it would be like to meet Carly. I would be so nervous. I wouldn't know what to say. I did have the good fortune of meeting Ben in 2006 after his concert in Boston. I had no idea though when I got there that Carly was there. I noticed a woman going backstage and knew right away it was her. She even cane out to perform with Ben and Sally. I was in a state of shock.

There was a young woman who was working Ben's concert that night and we were friends on myspace at the time and she sent me a message telling me I could have gone backstage to meet Carly. I was disappointed but I'm hoping that once Carly's book hits the shelves that she will come to Boston and do a book signing. I don't know what I would say to Ms Simon if I did get the chance to meet her but I guess I would say thanks for being an inspiration to me and so many other fans out there. I hope that I get my chance. I know a lot of people are rooting for me to meet her. Someone would have to come with me though to catch me in case I faint. Carly is such a classy lady. Another reason I admire her. She is not a mean spirit. She is so nice to her fans. I must admit I get envious when I see pictures of my friends who have met her. I just have this feeling though my chance will come. It could be in a few years which is fine by me. I can wait my turn. A legend like Carly doesn't come along often. I just think she is one amazing person who has so much spirit. I wish there was a way I could tell her how much I admire her. So Carly if you're reading this I hope you know you will always have me as a fan no matter what. I think that you are a special talent. I hope that she knows just how much her fans like me love her. I'm sure she does.

I would love to hear what your favorite Carly song is.If there is any Carly history I'm missing out on let me know. I'd really appreciate it. I want to be more informed on my favorite singer. So if I should add anything more to this entry I would be happy to. I was so inspired to write a little entry on Carly and inform those who might not know who she is just how cool and talented Ms Simon is. I hope someone who knows Carly reads this and shows this to her. I really hope I did a good job with this entry. I didn't want to write a biography on her life. I just wanted to say why she inspires me. Most singers nowadays swear in their music and aren't worthy in my personal opinion of admiration. I think that singers like Carly Simon, Carole King, Joni Mitchell are inspirational singers. I think that for a young woman like me I feel lucky to have been exposed to folk music and not so much hip-hop and rap. I can make a few exceptions in those areas though. Like I said if I am missing anything let me know in the comments. I'm trying to better my writing too. I hope that everyone has a good night, and that you all enjoyed this entry. My hand is cramping up so I will end this entry for now. But don't worry I will have a new entry soon. :)

  1. I love Carly just as much as you do, Anna. Almost seems at time, like we worship her, but maybe we do, for we admire her greatly.

I was in high school, in S. Cal. when I first heard her on the radio. The song was, "That's The Way I Always Heard It Should Be". I was mesmerized by that song ... that voice!! I was like, "WHO IS THAT"?? I had to find out ... and Quick!!

Well, when I found out who she was, and how cool she looked, dressed, and everything about her, I was just hooked!!

My then boyfriend, (now my husband, of 40 years) bought me the "Anticipation" LP. I always say, we fell in love, listening to and loving her music. We would go to his house, and put on our headphones, and listen to those great songs on his new "Quadrophonic" stereo ... (whatever THAT was!!)

Today, we have all of her LP's, CD's, some 45's, videos, children's books, even my car license plate says, "I <3 Carly". (I purchased that in '99) Anyhing with her name on it, we pretty much have it. Plus have been lucky enough to cop some large posters of hers, and a few other collectibles.

We still love Anticipation the most, (although we love all of her music) I love, "The Garden", and "Julie Through The Glass", ... really that whole album,.... it's so awesome.

My hubby loves, "The Girl You Think You See", and "The End". Amazing collection of songs.

One of the highlights of my life, was getting to see her in concert, on the last concert of her, "Letter's Never Sent" tour. We took our son and daughter, (who were in high school, and one n college, at the time), as they grew up with, and loved her music, too. It was a beautiful Sept. night, near San Francisco, CA. It ranks up there, with giving birth to my children, and their college graduations. I was so happy!! I couldn't believe I was there!!

Wonderful to write here with you, and share our great love, for such a talented, wonderful woman!!
