Update for April 6th 2016

   Hi everyone,
Sorry it has been months since I last wrote, I have been busy with the independent life. It's been wonderful so far. Of course there are bumps along the road but if there were no problems how would I learn, I had a doctors appointment today and learned that I may have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. I learned about it from the doctor and it makes sense that I would have it. Also this month marks 7 years since I had my first and only psychotic break while visiting Landmark College. The experience of being in the middle of nowhere not knowing what was going on with my health was a scary experience for me.
I have come along way since then. I have been a member of the Point After Club for 6 years off and on. I love it there, my fellow members are some of my best friends in the world. In fact I am bringing my best friend April to a Red Sox game on April 17th. It will be only my second time at Fenway Park. I am so excited to network again with Landmark and to see my friends, and hopefully make new ones. I am so lucky to have attended such a wonderful school. Though I wish I would have utilized my resources more while I was there, socialized more and sought out more help for my homesickness.
Next month on the 14th is the NAMI walk in Boston, I am looking forward to that as well. I hope to walk and raise more funds than I did in the previous years. I am no longer fearful of what people think when I tell them I have a mental illness, I have no shame in who I am. My friends, and family love me and support me. They have walked me through everything. The other thing I'm looking forward to is August when my Best friend Victoria gets married. I will be attending. Her bridal shower is later this month. I am so grateful to have her in my life.
My friends have a special place in my heart, I never thought I would have any, or be able to make any due to my lack of social skills and the fact that I was bullied by my peers while I was in grade school. Going through that was hard. I have a hard time seeing myself in a positive light because of that experience. But with help from my counselor Bibi and others I am working towards a more positive life, I think it's important to take care of myself and see myself as being important because I have a lot going for me and I am important in this world.
I am so blessed to have High Street and my friends and the staff here who support me everyday, their help goes along way. I am glad to have a bed to sleep in and awesome roommates. I lived with my parents for so long, I was scared to be away from them, still am but it was the best decision I've made. If I had left with them It could have taken months to get the support that I've had in MA for so long. I am so glad that I decided to stay near my friends. I hope to be more active in writing in blog as well. I know I've been slacking and I'm sorry about that. Life has been busy, I still love writing and letting people know how I'm doing via social media.
As always thanks for reading. It makes me feel good to know that there are people who care about me.
