It's been a while since I updated my blog so I thought I would take some time to write about my new job. I just started working at Kohl's and so far it's going good. I am bagging in the front. I'm not saying it's the greatest job in the world because it's not. It's something I have to learn to be quick about. I worked yesterday and did a lot of work. It will be a learning experience for me for sure. It took a while for Kohl's to get back to me. I was becoming quite frustrated but was relieved when they finally called me to tell me I would start orientation. I owe a lot to the job coordinator at my program and the rest of the staff and the members at my program for having faith in me and also helping me apply for the job. Everyone at the club has helped me a lot. I know there are a lot of times where it's hard for me to go in, I would rather stay in bed under my covers and sleep. But I also know it's good for me to go to my program on a regular basis. I get things done and at the end of the day I end up feeling much better about myself. I know I owe a lot to everyone there. But most especially to the director and the assistant director for their support of me. I know how much they and the rest of the staff care about me. I care about them and I also highly respect them for what they do. I don't think my friends who know that I have a mental illness know just how amazing the staff at the club truly are. They do so much for everyone. I think they deserve accolades for what they do on a regular basis.
I realize how important everyone at the PAC is to me. I know they know just how important they are, but a reminder is always good. I know next weekend is also another big reunion at LMC. I attended Landmark from 2006 and graduated in December of 2008. It will be 4 years next month since I've graduated. Landmark was a lot like the club when I went there, everyone supported me and cared about me. I remember my coach supporting me a lot. She was there for me when I needed her the most. I have not seen her in 3 years, I haven't seen a lot of my professors in 3 years. Most of my readers know by now what happened the last time I went to visit Landmark. Getting sick was a life changing experience but I think I'm a better person because of it. I have met some amazing people at the club who have gone above and beyond for me and continue to do so everyday. I have learned a lot from the staff at the club in a way they are teachers for me. I know it must sound weird to hear this but I've learned just as much from them as I've learned from my College professors and my High School teachers. The people who work in the mental health field do a lot everyday, I feel like they don't get enough respect for what they do by those who don't have a mental illness or don't attend a similar program like I do.
Like I said it is hard for me to go everyday. Sometimes I just need a day to clear my head and take care of myself. I know you all must be thinking but don't you get your rest and relaxation on the weekends? I do but sometimes I need a weekday to take care of myself and relax too. I know that my schedule will get busy because of my new job. I hope I do better everyday that I work. Everyday will be an experience for me at Kohl's. But I think it will be a positive one. For now I am working for the season but I hope they decide to keep me if I do a good job. I don't want to work at Kohl's forever. I hope one day to become a teacher and to change someone's life. But if that doesn't happen that's okay. It just wasn't meant to be for me. Not everything is meant to be. I think whatever happens for me will be good. If I'm a teacher that's great. If I get a career in politics that's cool too but I don't think I'll be a politician. I will be ending this entry for now. I hope you all read and enjoy it. I know it's short. If you think I should add to it let me know in the comments. Happy Veterans day, to all those who have served and serve our great country I appreciate you :))
