I haven't posted in a while and I thought I'd post my feelings on my life as a person with an Non Verbal Learning Disorder. I've always felt more comfortable with the adults in my life. They've never judged me, they understand me completely, and they love and appreciate me from who I am. I could never really make friends my own age due to the fact that I was bullied through-out most of my childhood. It hurt because I was looking forward to making friends and getting to know people. I'm very close with my former teachers from elementary school, middle school, High school, and college to this very day. I guess in a strange sort of way it does bother me. There are days I wish it could be easy for me to make friends my own age but it's not.
I've always felt this strong connection with the adults in my life, male or female. I got to know the staff at the club I go to very well. I've made strong connections with them as well. They've done so much for me. Besides my parents and siblings they have a unique understanding of who I am as a person. I've changed a lot since I graduated from College. I'm not the same person I was when I left. I think since I had my psychotic break in April of 2009 the connections with the adults in my life has been that much stronger. I know how much everybody cares about me, but the adults in my life have an extra special understanding of who I am. I guess I should be lucky to have that connection because most people don't.
I love and appreciate everyone who has made an impact upon my life. My parents, my siblngs, my teachers, most especially the staff at the point after club. I have come out of my shell over the two years I've been there. I've given speeches, the most recent speech I gave was in Boston. I am not as shy as I used to be, but to be honest if I had to move on I'd probably be shy all over again because that's just the type of person I am. I am lucky and blessed to be different. I always say I wish I was normal, but now I've come to the realization that there's no such thing as normal. Nobody is normal. I think we all must come to that realization.
It always helps me to write out my thoughts on my blog like I'm doing right now. It makes me feel better if I have a lot on my mind. I love when people comment and give me advice. Even when I'm having a bad day I come here to vent and it always calms me down. I hope everyone understands what I'm trying to say here. I'm pretty sure you all get the picture. I'm especially reminded of the character Spinelli on my favorite soap GH. I know he's a guy but in a way I see myself in him, he's unique, he has a lot of struggles with making connections. People are mean to him, well mainly Sonny and Mac, and sometimes even his friend Jason. I definitely think Spinell has Aspergers, he is so smart when he researches information on the computer. Wish I was as good as he is at that.
I am smart in some ways, I can write pretty well, I'm certainly not a good writer like my mom is though. I have been working on it though. I hope one day to be published. That would be really neat to see my work in print and possibly make a difference in someone's life. I don't expect for that to happen anytime soon because I know there are rejections that come along the way but I hope one day it does happen. I will end my post for now. Hopefully I will update my blog more often it's so important to let all my readers know what's going on in my life. Hope everyone is having a good 2012. I know I am. :)

It's great to read about your accomplishments, Anna! You are so wise in many ways; I don't know many people as young as you that realize that life is a series of challenges (" I don't expect for that to happen anytime soon because I know there are rejections that come along the way but I hope one day it does happen") and you are so willing to meet them. It takes a lot of courage to get through life and you are doing it so bravely: public speaking? Wow!
ReplyDeleteMaybe your LD is letting you see through the distractions that bog down many people your age. In time, I'm sure they will see your honesty and understanding and really appreciate you for who you are. Stay strong!
