So as you all may know, I really hope to one day become a special education teacher, as of now I only have my Associates Degree from the wonderful Landmark College. I am hoping to at some point attend Salem State so I can study to become a special education, I have had the idea of becoming a special education teacher in my head since I graduated LMC in December of 2008. I went through a lot during my education. As some of you may or may not know I was bullied pretty badly throughout most of my education, I had support from some wonderful people. I want to make a difference in someone's life as well. I am really chomping at the bit to go back to school. I may be rushing into things. But it has been almost two years since I left my previous school Colby Sawyer. I really would like to get my degree, and have my dream of becoming a special education teacher come true.
I have had some wonderful teachers in my life. I would like to give a special shoutout to one of them. My High School special education teacher. Mrs Waybright you made such an impact on my life. I would have never passed MCAS without your help. You fought hard for me and never gave up on me.I feel so lucky to have had you as a teacher. If you are reading this thank you so much. Thanks for fighting for me, it's because of you that I want to fight for someone in my position. So again from the bottom of my heart thank you! :)
I would also like to thank all of my LMC faculty that I was lucky enough to work with. You all changed my life in various ways, I had an amazing coach who helped organize my crazy life while I attended LMC. She was there through the good times and the hard times. She helped me figure out how to work things out in my head and I was able to organize my work better because of her help. She supported me throughout my homesickness while I was at LMC. So to my coach thank you for all of your wonderful support.
I had some wonderful professor's there as well, they know who they are, they all supported me, through all my hard times. I am the luckiest kid in the world to have attended LMC! LMC is like a second home to me, I have struggled lately with the idea of going there for a visit it's been two years since my last one. I have mentioned this before that I am afraid to go back because I think that people will be afraid to see me because of my illness. But the more I think about it and the more I talk to my family and friends about it I realize that there are people at LMC who genuinely care about me and want to see me.
I aspire to help someone else just as my teachers have helped me, I went through so much in my education, yes I was bullied but they're were a lot of positive aspects of my education. I want to be able to say at some point a long time down the road that I did the same thing for someone else. If my dreams of going back to school and becoming a teacher come true I would be one happy girl. I know my blog entry isn't that great, but I just wanted to put my dreams out there for you all to see. I hope you guys like what I wrote and that you leave your comments. I know I can count on you all to do that. The comments are so helpful for me and always uplift me. So thanks again everybody :)

Dear Anna,
ReplyDeleteWhen my boys were in School we had many occasion to get help from the teachers in the Special Education field. My youngest had trouble learning to read and my oldest was very Gifted but Learning Disabled as well. With out the help of these wonderful teachers neither boy would have made it through to graduation and I am sure of it. If you are able to help even one Child in your lifetime it will be time well spent. Thank you for striving to be a Hero for a Child and their Family.

Anna, I have no doubt you will do this. I had a crappy childhood, so the adults in my life were the teachers who encouraged me. You have a very important role in life!
ReplyDeleteHi Anna, I am sure glad I asked you for the blog link again, I feel like a star. The time I spent helping you were times I will always remember, and undoubtedly highlights in my career. The kind of help and support I was able to give you, is what a Special Education Teacher dreams of. My work with you was so fulfilling for me as a teacher, to this day I refer to our experience often. I'll never forget the day we found out you PASSED the MCAS. What a huge accomplishment. I am thrilled you are continuing to go down your path of Education. I know you'll make a wonderful teacher Anna! Talk soon, Mrs. W.
